Organization bids lynn Cooper happy retirement
Members of the Inyo Council for the Arts wish to give a big “thank you” to Lynn Cooper, who was at the helm of the organization for 23 years and is retiring this year, as they welcome a new executive director.
“We know we’ll be seeing her around with a big

smile as she enjoys her new freedom and personal time,” members said of Cooper.
They want Inyo County to join the Inyo Council for the Arts Board of Directors in welcoming Sharon Freilich as the new executive director for ICA.
Freilich has been dedicated to enriching lives through design, art and art education throughout her career and will carry on the great work of Inyo Council for the Arts, according to ICA.
“We are confident that she will continue to promote vibrant art opportunities in the Eastern Sierra via quality art programs in Inyo County schools, live music and art events, and by supporting and promoting local artists and cultural communities,” according to the ICA board.
In reference to ICA’s present and future Freilich replied, “I am very passionate about the healing and life-enhancing properties of art, inclusivity, and honoring one’s heritage. I strongly believe in the power of engagement with all areas of art and design to connect individuals, cultures, and communities.
I’m excited to continue the great work of the Inyo Council for the Arts and to work with all the volunteers, members and government partnerships that are really at the heart of our programs and events, as we continue to explore the possibilities for the future.”
Freilich brings with her a creative entrepreneurial spirit, many years as a successful textile and graphic designer, 15 + years in art education
including after-school art programs, designing and implementing creative spaces for students, management and tech skills, and above all a commitment to establishing relationships and enhancing lives through the promotion of art participation and volunteerism.
When Freilich is not doodling, drawing or dancing in the kitchen with her cat, you can find her tending plants in the community garden, swimming laps at Keough’s, hiking with her husband, or following her daughter’s adventures as a pilot.
Inyo Council for the Arts is the official arts council for the county, operating under the California Arts Council.
