County’s Fifth District race packed with candidates
All supervisor races contested for next year’s election
With the extension period to file for candidacy ending earlier this month, voters in the three county supervisor districts that are up for election will have a choice between at least two candidates, according to the Inyo County Elections Office.
In the Fifth District, where incumbent Supervisor Matt Kingsley has chosen not to run, voters will have six candidates to choose from.
The candidates for the March 5, 2024 Primary Election, the Elections Office reports, are as follows:
Second District Laura Smith
Jeff Griffiths (incumbent)
Fourth District
Genevieve “Gina Jones Jen Roeser (incumbent)
Fifth District
Laura M. Blystone Aaron Cassell
Ash Seiter
Will “The Handyman” Wadelton
Dan Berry
Spencer McNeal
If no candidate in a given race receives more than 50% of the vote in the primary election, the top two vote-getters will face off in the November general election.
The last day to register to vote for the primary election is Feb. 20, 2024, according to the California Secretary of State’s Office. Voters will be able to “conditionally” register and vote a provisional ballot from Feb. 21 through March 5.
Early voting sites open Feb. 5 and all counties shall open ballot drop-off locations for vote-by-maill ballots from Feb. 6 through March 5.
There will be a number of local races on the Nov. 5, 2024, general election ballot that voters could take interest in.
Three seats on the Bishop City Council will be up as well as a number of school board seats throughout Inyo County.
