Inyo National Forest to host three job fairs next month

Inyo National Forest will be hosting three special events this coming January to help applicants in entry-level jobs navigate the applicatio­n process.

The Forest Service will be hiring in several program areas including fire, recreation, OHV, wilderness, archeology, engineerin­g maintenanc­e and visitor services.

Detail of the events follow:

• Wednesday, Jan. 10 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Inyo National Forest Supervisor’s Office 351 Pacu Lane, Bishop, CA. Presentati­ons at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Staff available all day.

• Tuesday, Jan. 16

1 – 4 p.m.

Eastern Sierra Interagenc­y Visitor Center Junction of U.S. Highway 395 North and State Route 136 East. Drop-in open house style

• Thursday, Jan. 18 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center, 2510 Highway 203, Mammoth Lakes, CA. Drop-in open house style

Positions in both permanent-seasonal and temporary wildland fire are entry-level GS-3 to GS-4 forestry aids and technician­s, opening on USAJobs.gov from Jan. 2 – 24, 2024.

Expected start dates would be in late May or June 2024.

Non-fire temporary positions are also entrylevel GS-4 to GS-7 and WG-3 to WG-5 and opening on USAJobs.gov from Jan. 24 – Feb. 7, 2024. Expected start dates will be in early July 2024.

Positions are available within all four ranger districts, so applicants should select anywhere they would be willing to work for Inyo National Forest (Lee Vining, Mammoth, Bishop and Lone Pine.

Once hired, employees can also more easily be rehired if their term is a temporary appointmen­t.
