County clerk reminds voters of important dates
Ballots to be mailed out at the end of this week
Inyo County ClerkRecorder/Registrar Danielle M. Sexton would like to encourage voters to participate in the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election and to get their ballots in early, or use their mailed ballot for their in-person Election Day ballot.
Important dates voters should keep in mind, according to Sexton, include:
Key Primary Election Dates:
• Feb. 5: Ballots will be mailed to every active registered voter.
• Feb. 20: Voter registration deadline to receive a mailed ballot. Anyone who has recently moved is encouraged to check their registered physical and mailing addresses at https://VoterStatus.sos.ca. gov/. Voter registration forms are available at the Inyo County Elections
Office, any Inyo County Post Office or Library, or online at https://RegisterToVote.ca. gov/.
• Feb. 29: Mailed ballots received in the Elections Office by Thursday, Feb. 29, will be included in the first election results report, which will be posted on the Inyo County Elections Office website after 8 p.m. on Election Night. Vote-by-mail ballots received after this date will be tallied and reported after Election Day.
• March 5: Election Day! For voters with an in-person voting precinct, the county’s regular polling places will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• March 19 (tentative): Post Election Audit – 1% Hand Tally Audit
• March 25: Mailed ballots received on Election Day, or postmarked by Election Day and received by March 12, and
Provisional Ballots will continue to be processed through March 25, as required by California law. Mailed Ballots that did not pass inspection, will result in voters receiving letters requesting signature validations. These letters can be received up to this date to have their ballots accepted and included in the election tallied results.
• March 27: Inyo County Registrar of Voters will Certify the Election Results.
• April 2 (tentative): Certified Election Results report presented to Inyo County Board of Supervisors to declare elected those persons for each election under the County’s jurisdiction.
Election Night tally reports will include early mailed ballots and in-person voted ballots. This does not include mailed ballots dropped off at a polling place, unless the voter checks in, signs the Voting Roster, and submits their vote by mail issued ballot as their in-person ballot.
Voting in person with your mailed ballot is a new option!
