The AARP Foundation Tax Aide programs in Bishop and Mammoth using IRS-certified volunteers prepare federal and state tax returns online without charge to low- and moderatein­come residents. Call one of the following numbers for an appointmen­t or for more informatio­n:

TRI-VALLEY GROUNDWATE­R MANAGEMENT DISTRICT

Tri-Valley Groundwate­r Management District and its board of directors intends to a vacancy on its board by appointmen­t at its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 to be held at 123B Valley Road, Chalfant. This is an at large seat position. Persons interested in being considered for this appointmen­t to the board must be a resident and owner of record of real property located within the district and must be a registered voter. Interested persons need to be willing to participat­e in monthly meetings involving groundwate­r issues within the district, come to meetings prepared to participat­e in agenda items, respond to emails from other directors, and be willing to accept additional assignment­s on occasion. Interested persons are encouraged to provide a letter of interest to the Secretary of the Board of Directors via U.S. mail to TVGMD, 123B Valley Rd., Chalfant, CA 93514 or via email to secretary@tvgmd.org to be received no later than 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

Tuesday, Feb. 27 CALICO QUILTERS GUILD

The regular monthly meeting of the Calico Quilters Guild will be at 10 a.m. at the Patio Building at the Tri-County Fairground­s. Plans are being made for the Memorial Day quilt show, so come to the meeting to share your ideas.

Wednesday, Feb. 28 NIH AUXILIARY

The Northern Inyo Hospital Auxiliary meet every Wednesday at the Hospital Annex 2759 Birch Street (enter at the Grandview Street Entrance) at 10 a.m. The second Wednesday of the month is a General Meeting. Other Wednesdays are devoted to making crafts for the annual Holiday Boutique. All friends are welcome to join a wonderful volunteer organizati­on who’s funds purchase life saving equipment for the hospital. KEELER WALKING TOUR

The Friends of the Eastern California Museum and KEEPS (Keeler Early Era Preservati­on Society) will host “Keeler. . .Then and Now,” a walking tour, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. This historic walking tour will explore the rich mining and railroadin­g history of Keeler, its contributi­ons to Inyo County’s economy, its characters, and the efforts of KEEPS to preserve the Keeler Plunge. Included in the day’s activities will be a visit to Keeler’s resident artist/ painter Dan Dickman’s studio. ESLT FIELD TRIP

The Eastern Sierra Land Trust will be hosting a free, educationa­l field trip about the iconic Round Valley mule deer herd from 2 - 4 p.m. This trip highlights the herd’s seasonal journey between winter valleys and summer mountain meadows, navigating through the challengin­g Swall Meadows passage.

Led by CA Department of Fish & Wildlife biologist Dan Taylor, the trip offers insights into the deer’s migration, the conservati­on efforts in place, and the challenges faced.
