Annual meeting to include updates from various entities
The Inyo County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to hold meetings in south Inyo County today and Wednesday to get updates and discuss issues with constituents and other agencies.
The board is set to meet with the Inyo County Board of Education at 12:30 p.m. today at the Flower Building in Shoshone.
The agenda includes a “State of Schools” update from Inyo County Superintendent of Schools Barry Simpson.
Members of both boards also are scheduled to discuss opportunities for improved collaborative service delivery in southeast Inyo County, which would include opportunities and challenges.
The boards also are scheduled to discuss the Inyo County Office of Education facilitating a programmatic contract for annual fire inspections at local schools.
Following the Shoshone meeting, the board will convene at 3 p.m. at the Tecopa Community Center, 405 Tecopa Hot Springs Road., for its annual Southeast Inyo meeting. The agenda for this meeting includes a presentation on the Active Transportation Grant Program for the Tecopa Community Connectivity Project.
Supervisors also are scheduled to hear a presentation on state Proposition 1 from Inyo County Health and Human Services Director Anna Scott.
The state measure relates to providing mental health care and drug or alcohol treatment to residents as well as addressing homelessness.
During the meeting in Tecopa, supervisors also are expected to receive updates from entities including Southern California Edison, the Southern Inyo Fire Protection District, the Amargosa Conservancy and the Bureau of Land Management.
On Wednesday, the board will travel to Furnace Creek for a meeting at the Visitor Center starting at 10:30 a.m.
