Life’s glories

- By Rev. Dr. Walt Sharer

One of my colleagues recently inferred that without death we would not have the glory. I take glory to mean extreme or abundant happiness and satisfaction. That being the case I experienced glory when I graduated from Grammar school, Junior High School, High School, and College. Also, I found it glorious when I got married and at the birth of my children. As a matter of fact, I can attribute a feeling of glory when I got my first hole-in-one at the golf course, and when I completed my first marathon. I don’t believe that God gave me life just to snatch it away so I could feel good. I am attempting to live as long as I can live a good quality life. I don’t want to hurry it along so I can have a few moments of glory in the afterlife.

Don’t get me wrong, I respect my colleagues view, however, I cannot devalue the life I have for a future good. Planning for the future is vital, but we live from moment to moment. To ensure the future I desire I must do the work now. If I desire a positive and uplifting experience, I must set the groundwork by living as though I have what I want now. We must remember that yesterday is history, tomorrow is fantasy, and that we live and have our being in a glorious now. The glory contained in the now is only achieved through our actions.

A life filled with lack, loss, and limitation can hardly be called glorious and often times there seems like there is no way out of it. However, God, the Divine creator, has a plan that has been available from the very beginning of time, and it is very simple. You don’t need a college degree, a certificate or even a license. All you need is to adjust your thinking, words, and actions in a positive orientation. Of course, that means you have to avoid pity parties, ain’t it awful discussions, and negative outbursts You can readily see how easy that is. Now for the good things you must do. I can give it to you in four words and they are all the same: LOVE LOVE LOVE and

Love. Love your dog, love your cat, love your hamster, love your neighbor, and even love your job. Your love returns to you in so many ways.

You may ask about all the negativity all around us. In the Bible we read, “A thousand may fall and ten thousand at my right hand but it won’t come unto me.” Yes, there are thousands and possibly millions that look at life’s struggle as normal, natural, and inevitable, but that doesn’t have to be your experience, unless you surrender to it. It all boils down to your choice. Again, the Bible says, “Choose ye this day whether to follow God or Ball.” Ball represents all limitations.

When I was faced with this decision, I found I had to make some radical changes in my associations, language and who and where I was getting my inspiration. I started claiming my good. “Come boldly to the throne of grace.” I began to look at life through the lens of Goodness, Truth and Beauty. Slowly at first, my life began to take on more and more happiness and satisfaction

Life is beautiful and we should be able to relish it. We don’t need death to come in to the glory. Death is just another element of life. I do not fear death, nor do I welcome it, at least not right now. I don’t know where I will go or how I will appear, but it will be glorious. I am living right now and I love it.

Say to yourself, “All there is, is God and I am One with God. I have the strength and ability to make changes in my life to reflect the Divine Goodness, Truth and Beauty. I look past limitations and behold the abundance of good in my life. I move upward and onward into the glory of God.”

God is Love and

Loving You Right Now!
