Paul Leroy Anderson, 97 of Rosamond, CA passed away peacefully at home into the arms of Jesus, March 12, 2024. He was born March 4, 1927 in Bishop, CA.

He joined the Navy, April of 1945 and served on the USS Sante Fe, USS Tippecanoe, and the USS Egeria. He was a member of Operating Engineers for 30 years and worked as a foreman for Asphalt

Constructi­on Company.

He loved telling his amazing stories of his days spent as a young sheepherde­r and everyone loved hearing them. He spoke of his memories at the sheep camps, Queen Canyon Ranch, where they had round ups and branding.

He was a great provider to his family, a loving employer to his caregivers, and they loved him dearly.

He enjoyed spending summers in Lee Vining, and fishing, hunting and his trip to Basque country. He was a big part of the Basque community in Bakersfiel­d, CA.

He also loved watching his westerns and having visitors and holidays spent with family and friends. He loved to hear stories of the Good Shepherd and to have bible study in his bedroom with several gathered around him.

Paul is preceded in death by his mother Margaret Norman, daughter Susie Betes, Moses Lake, WA, sisters; Mary Louise, and Margaret, his brothers; August, Donald, Mike, Herbert, Johnny, and Stanley. Along with his first wife of 30 years, Jenny and his second wife, Mary Lou who passed in 2015.

He leaves behind his three sons, Paul “Sweed,” Mike, Jerry, and many grandchild­ren, great- grandchild­ren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A graveside memorial will be held at Pioneer Cemetery, East Line St, 2000 Poleta Rd. Bishop, CA 93514 on April 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
