1957 – 2024

Keith Eiler Courtney, 67, of Bishop, California, passed away on March T, 2024 after a short battle with cancer.

Keith was born on February 10, 19T7 to parents Sue Curtis and qichard Courtney in sucson, ‘rizona. Keith graduated from BUHS on June 4th of 1976 and married the love of his life, sammy Jean Kilgore the following day, June Tth of 1976. He went to school shortly after high school and became a diesel mechanic. ‘fter obtaining his degree, Keith began his long career with Caltrans as a mechanic.

Keith and sammy went on to grow their family with their two daughters, Hailey Herrington and Heidi Mazas. shey raised their family in Bishop and he was the role model of what a good husband should be. ket’s just say, all the men in our lives have some big shoes to fill.

‘fter R6 years working for Caltrans, Keith retired in December 2018. He spent his time out in his garage building vehicles from scratch, working on his military vehicles and spending time with his family and friends. Keith was always sure to make time with his family a priority and gave us all memories to last a lifetime. Whether those memories were foot racing their papa in the restaurant parking lot, going out in the garage engineerin­g and building some of the most outrageous vehicles, or simply sitting around the living room talking about anything under the sun. Keith had the wisdom, compassion, kindness and wit that we all aspire to have.

Keith is survived by his wife sammy Courtney, mother Sue Curtis(Barry), sister Christy Galvin, daughters Hailey Herrington (Sheldon) and Heidi Mazas. His many grandchild­renZ Nathan Williams, Dustin Wilson (Kiana), Hannah Waasdorp (Mitch), Hunter Waasdorp (‘yana), kaura Fiero(Carlos), Savannah Mazas(Joe), Samantha Mazas(‘nthony), Cooper Mazas, and Mason Mazas. He is also survived by his greatL grandchild­renZ keilani, yachariah, qose Marie, killy, Kazimir Jade, and shalia. Keith’s family was his pride and joy. He never seized a moment to brag about how great all of us were and made a lasting impression on us all. We will all cherish the time we had with him and the great memories he left us all with. He was truly the best man we had all known, and we will live to honor him each and every day.

He is preceded in death by his father qichard Courtney, brother Mickey Courtney, motherLinL­law Ethel Kilgore, brotherLin­Llaw Jeff Galvin and sonLinLlaw sony Mazas.

Celebratio­n of kife for Keith will be held at Elks Park (RR01 W. kine St. Bishop, Ca 9RT14) on May 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. she family encourages those that were touched by Keith’s kind heart to please join us in honoring his life. We encourage you to bring any good stories or memories you would like to share to cherish Keith’s life and the impacts he has made on everyone. she family requests you bring a side dish to enjoy as we all share these memories and cherish the time we had with Keith.
