Organizati­ons gear up for Earth Day happenings

The Bishop Sunrise Rotary Club, along with many other agencies and organizati­ons are planning Earth Day events throughout this week and beyond.

The Bishop Sunrise Rotary Club and the Inyo Council for the Arts present Sierra Earth Day and Community Art Day from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Bishop City Park.

There will be live music, kids activities, Native dance, art and food booths, kids activities and more Earth Day-related happenings.

The Bishop Paiute Tribe’s Earth Day and Spring Market at the Cultural Center, from 8 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 21, is an annual tradition with the Bishop Paiute Tribe’s Environmen­tal Management Office (EMO). Every April, EMO and the Owens Valley PaiuteShos­hone Cultural Center host this outdoor event that includes a roadside trash cleanup of target areas within the reservatio­n.

A community roadside cleanup will be from 8 10:30 a.m.

From 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., there will be activity tables, informatio­n booths,

Spring Market vendors, food, live music and more.

The Owens Valley Paiute Shoshone Cultural Center is located at 2300 W. Line Street in Bishop.

Community day events in the eastern sierra Caltrans District 9, in partnershi­p with Clean California, is excited to announce a series of community cleanup events in the Eastern Sierra as part of the second annual Clean California Community Days observance.

Community groups, local businesses, and residents are invited to volunteer and join these events which are part of the ongoing efforts to keep local California communitie­s clean and beautiful.
