GADGETS FOR A BETTER LIFESTYLE

- BY DONNA CLEVELAND

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart Toothbrush ($219.99) Our managing editor Rheanne recently made the switch from brushing her teeth manually to using this electric toothbrush, and she's been amazed at what a difference it's making in her routine. The brush syncs via Bluetooth with the Sonicare iPhone app, which helps her to make sure she doesn't miss a spot, brush too hard and damage her gums, or get bored and cut the session short. Plus, we've found it's hard to get that squeaky-clean feel left by an electric toothbrush from a regular-old manual version.

Belkin Fitness Armband ($39.99) Listening to music or a podcast while jogging transforms what could be a slog into an adventure. That's why I keep Belkin's Fitness Armband and a pair of true wireless earbuds (see page 36) by my front door for when I want to hit the trail with my five-yearold boxer mix Roger. The armband is easy to use—my iPhone X pops in and out of Belkin's flexible case easily, and the Velcro strap adjusts snugly around my bicep for a comfortable fit. While the XS looks fine, I'd steer clear of armbands for the XS Max or a Plussized iPhones, as they might feel heavy and look bulky.

Fitbit Alta Fitness Wristband ($79.95) Sitting at a desk all day is hard on your health. That's why this year I've been striving to take 10,000 steps each day, in order to satisfy the Center for Disease Control's general activity guidelines. While the Apple Watch or trackers like the Polar M430 are great for running or high-intensity workouts, I found the Alta to be the most convenient for tracking steps and other simple metrics like how many flights of steps I've climbed. Its low-profile design and display readings make it a great tool for becoming more active and aware without the commitment or financial investment of an Apple Watch. Polar M430 Advanced Running Watch ($199.95)

Thought you were intense about your workouts? The M430 will take you to even greater heights with features including cadence recording, interval training, and workout evaluations in detail you've likely never seen before. The watch is big and screams, “I seriously work out,” but who says that's a bad thing? The M430 is great for those who want to push their workout limits.

Tinylogics Memo Box 7-Day Pillbox ($199) Part of being a healthy adult is keeping track of your supplements and medications and taking them as prescribed. Shuffling through a messy drawer of pill bottles every day doesn't make this an easy task! I finally made the switch to this 7-day pillbox and have been pleased by how easy it makes it to track what medications I'm taking and when as well as set alarms and refill reminders. In the case of parents or other caretakers, you can track whether family members are sticking to their medication plans.
