Something spooky is lurking in Sterling. The Sterling Miracle Players are back with their annual haunted house.

Coming up with a theme for this year’s fright was an easy task for the theatrical group; they simply turned to real life to present “Pandemic 2020.”

Inside the haunted house you’ll find a creepy doctor ready to test you for COVID19, spooky creatures haunting the salon and theater that were forced to close due to the outbreak, and remote learning at its worst.

Along with the novel coronavirus-themed rooms, you’ll also find your way through a spooky forest in tribute to the wildfires that have impacted Colorado this year.

Plus, with Thanksgiving and Christmas likely to be a little different this year due to COVID-19, the theatrical group wanted to offer up their twist on them, so you’ll see some frightening holiday scenes.

But, SMP also wants to do some good too and grant a few Christmas wishes. That’s why they are asking youngsters who visit

the haunted house to write a letter to Santa while there.

Because of COVID-19, the theatrical group had to cancel its annual summer children’s camp and fall production. So, they were excited to be able to come back together for the spooky season.

“We had to get pretty creative, but we’re just thrilled to be able to do something,” said volunteer Annette Lambrecht.

Those brave enough to enter the haunted house are asked to wear a mask. When you arrive send one person from your group to get a number and then wait in your car until you are called. No lines are allowed.

“Pandemic 2020” is located at 326 S. Front St. Enter if you dare Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $10 per person.
