Webster Dwayne Pilkington, 93, of Sterling Colorado, passed away on July 20th, 2022. Memorial

Ser vices will be on Saturday,

July 30th 2022, at 9: 00 am at the Sterling High School Baseball Field for Tall Tales, followed by the Memorial ser vice at 10: 00 am. We are inviting friends and family to join us at Sky Ranch for Taller Tales and Toasts following the ser vice!

Dwayne Pilkington was born July 30, 1928, in a farmhouse seven miles north of Laird, Colorado to Webster Pilkington and Beulah ( Garner) Pilkington. Dwayne grew up in the Laird and Wray communitie­s. After graduating from Laird High School in 1946, Dwayne went on to college at University of Northern Colorado. Upon his college graduation in 1951, Dwayne took up his passion for teaching, both in the classroom and on the field. He taught for a total of 34 years in Laird, Crook, Wray, and Sterling. He was extremely proud of the various athletic teams and athletes he coached. Dwayne ran the summer baseball program at Wray and Sterling for several years. While at Wray, he coached Northeaste­rn Colorado All Star Babe Ruth Baseball team to a State Championsh­ip which qualified them to play in the regional tournament in Oskaloosa, IA. In his coaching career, in the Lower Platte Valley League, he had 14 League Championsh­ips in four dif ferent sports. They won State football titles in 1955, 1957, and 1958, basketball titles in 1958 and 1959. The Crook High School trophy case was filled with many Championsh­ips during his years as Coach. Championsh­ips were especially memorable as the 1955 football team won the first State Class C6 Man Championsh­ip for Crook High. In 1957, the football team won their first ever State 8- man Championsh­ip and in 1958, the football team followed with another State 8- man championsh­ip. In

Crook, he had four league championsh­ip in football, three in basketball, five track titles and two baseball titles. At Sterling High School Dwayne coached freshman football, JV basketball, and Varsity baseball. After winning the Northern Conference, he took his team to the 1977 baseball State tournament in Pueblo where they held their own. Upon retirement as an educator in 1985, Dwayne worked as a full- time crop adjuster until 2000. He enjoyed traveling and meeting all the wonderful farmers in our area.

Dwayne married the love of his life, Edna Deines, in Laird on September 12, 1948. In their 73 years of marriage, they were blessed with four children: Curtis

Dwayne, Gregory Paul, Marilyn Elizabeth, and Thomas Carroll.

Dwayne enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, playing cards, attending all levels of sporting events, especially those of his grandchild­ren and great- grandchild­ren. He was an avid Denver Bronco and Colorado Rockies fan. Whether coaching, teaching, attending sporting events for his kids or grandkids, he was a role model to his family and friends. He was always wanting to know more about people he met; where they grew up, who their family was, and, if you gave him the time, one was blessed by his amazing presence.

Bostich of Ft. Collins, and sister- in- law Alice Ann Devlin Pilkington of Longmont, and sister- in- law Norma Deines of Arkansas. Children Curt and wife Cindy of Sterling, Greg and wife Jacque of Timnath, Marilyn Greene of Sterling, and Tom and wife Tracy of Windsor, CO. Grandchild­ren of Dwayne and Edna are AJ ( Kelli) Greene of Boulder City NV,

Shanan ( Tim) Doherty of Sterling, Derek ( Jacqui) Pilkington of Denver, Ali Pilkington of Denver, Ross

( Stacey) Pilkington of Berthoud, Paige ( Jason) Hutt of Windsor, Hillery ( Matt) Moody of Windsor, Ashley ( Morgan) Berman of Larkspur Ca, and Haley ( Greg) Gebhardt of Windsor Co. Dwayne and Edna also have Eighteen great- grandchild­ren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dwayne is preceded in death by his Father Webster Pilkington, Mother Beulah Garner Pilkington, Sisters Connie Pilkington Hazelbush, Fern Pilkington Deines,

Carol Faye Pilkington, and Brother Willard Pilkington.
