Sky Ranch Golf and Grill

- By Logan County Chamber of Commerce

Founded in 1916 as Sterling Country Club, the course has a rich history within Colorado golf lore. This golf course is the premier golf course in the northeast region of Colorado. Sterling Country Club is the oldest in northeastern Colorado and one of the first five courses in Colorado.

The change in ownership is the third in the past decade for the course. The course was purchased and donated to Northeastern Junior College in 2010 by the late Frank Walsh, with the intent of adding culinary and turf management programs to the college’s offerings and the name was changed to Northeastern 18. In 2014, the course was sold to the Lebsock family. In 2020 Sterling Golf LLC acquired Northeastern 18 from the previous ownership group.

The Sky Ranch Team is excited to share that they have begun to build upon their historic foundation and initiated a revitalization program that includes capital improvements, a rebranding program, and the renaming of the facility to Sky Ranch Golf and Grill. As part of the improvement and re-branding program, the golf course, restaurant, and banquet facilities have undergone significant upgrades. The course features multiple tees on each hole, providing golfers of all ages and abilities with an enjoyable challenge.

Sky Ranch Golf & Grill now offers a full-service restaurant, open Tuesday-Sunday, and multiple event spaces to fit any special occasion. Their large windows overlooking the terrace and 18th green make for the perfect setting. They feature the “19th Hole,” an exclusive conference room equipped with state-of-the-art audio visual, cables, and wireless internet. The course is open to the public for daily play, with a variety of membership options also available.

One of the owners said, “On behalf of the investment group and our families, we look forward to the challenge of returning this historic golf course to its original grandeur and to providing the entire community with a high-quality, family-friendly gathering spot for golf, dining and special events.”

Recently Sky Ranch has hired Dennis Gallagher in the position of food and beverage manager, and Justin Highberger to fill the position of golf pro.
