Broncos QB Russell Wilson cleared to play Thursday

Four Denver players have been ruled out due to injury

Quarterback Russell Wilson was limited by a right shoulder issue again Wednesday, but his status for Thursday’s game against the Colts is not in question, according to the Broncos’ final injury report of the week.

Wilson told reporters Tuesday he expected to play “without limitation” despite receiving treatment on his throwing shoulder each day this week.

Four other players who appeared on the injury report this week — running back Melvin Gordon, left guard Dalton Risner, safety Caden Sterns and nickel K’waun Williams — are cleared to play.

Offensive lineman Billy Turner (knee), who has not yet appeared this season, is listed as questionable. So are cornerback Darrius Phillips (hamstring) and wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland (hamstring).

Four players have been ruled out: Safety P.J. Locke (concussion), outside linebacker Aaron Patrick (concussion), right guard Quinn Meinerz (hamstring) and outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper (hamstring).

Without Patrick, Cooper and Randy Gregory, who was placed on short-term injured reserve earlier this week, the Broncos are shorthanded at outside linebacker. That could prompt a practice squad elevation for Jonathan Kongbo.

Colts stars out. Denver has injury issues, but certainly isn’t alone in that department. Indianapolis will play Thursday night without its best offensive player and its best defensive player.

The franchise had already ruled out linebacker Shaquille Leonard (concussion) earlier this week and on Wednesday confirmed that star running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is out, too.

Taylor, who rushed for 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns last year, already had 90 touches for the Colts through four games, but suffered a high ankle sprain Sunday against Tennessee.
