It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Adam Douglas Schiel, also known as Doug, on November 21, 2022. Doug lost his courageous battle with multiple myeloma cancer after years of fighting. He was born on February 27, 1953 in Sedgwick, CO, and was raised on the family sugar beet farm.

Doug attended school at Revere and married Carol Lanckriet in 1973, with whom he settled in Sterling, CO. He was a loving father, husband, and avid outdoorsman who enjoyed exploring the open road. He was an outspoken and charming individual who always sought to make others laugh and endear themselves towards him. Doug was a curious man who was always searching for answers to life's most profound questions and ways to live in a most fulfilled way.

Doug and Carol raised three boys, Nathan, Joshua, and Kristopher, and he was also lucky enough to spend a significant amount of time with his grandsons, Remington and Gunnar. In his later years, Doug relocated to Missouri and then Wyoming, where he spent much of his free time exploring the great outdoors, tinkering with various DIY projects, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered by many for his unique personality, approach to life, and the impression he made on those around him.

Doug is sur vived by his wife, Carol; sons, Nathan, Joshua, and Kristopher; grandsons, Remington and Gunnar; sister, Sharon Boyd and family; as well as, brother, Marc Schiel and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Amalia Schiel; maternal grandparents, Andrew and Barbara; and paternal grandparents, John and Katherine.

A private memorial ser vice will be held during the spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donataion to the National Audubon Society.
