"Ken" Bond, 74, of Sterling, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023 in Aurora, CO. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 14th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Tennant Funeral Home's Reception Room (South Entrance). A memorial service will be held at the Sterling Elks Club on Friday, Dec. 15th at 1:00 p.m. with services concluding at the Elks. Kenneth Ray Bond was born on September 14, 1949 in Colby, KS to John Bond and Betty (Hofenstine) Bond. He was raised in and around Colby before moving to Sterling around 1962. Kenneth was a graduate of Sterling High School in 1969. He was employed by 7-Eleven before entering the Navy in 1968. He married Linda Blando on August 3, 1968 in Sterling. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversar­y. In the

Navy, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expedition­ary Medal.

In 1971, he returned to Sterling and opened the first 7-Eleven on W. Main and S. 3rd Ave. In 1974, he began employment with the Rocky Mountain News as District Manager serving NE Colorado and at times parts of WY, KS and NE. He left RMN in 1995 and returned in the transporta­tion and distributi­on area in NE CO until the News stopped delivery in

2003, he then began his real estate career with Re/max, retiring in 2020. Ken coached Little League and babe Ruth baseball and was Pack 19 Webolos leader and Assistant Scout Master. He was a 50 year member of the Sterling Elks Lodge serving as the Golf Committee Chairman and Director for several years. Ken enjoyed following the Broncos, golf, camping and traveling.

Ken is survived by his spouse, Linda (Blando) Bond, three children, Kristina (Brian) Treadway of Florida, Kenneth Jr. (Bobbie Jo) Bond of Lasalle, and Kerissa (Cody) Quint of Sterling, 14 grandchild­ren, and 9 great-grandchild­ren; sisters-in-law Peggy (Ken) Koester, Raydene (Mike) Harms of Sterling and Helen (Thompson) Bond of Powder Springs, GA.

His nieces and nephews, and special friends Bob and Marilyn Kellerhuis.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Betty Bond; brothers John David and Dennis (Danny) and sister, Tamara; and nephews Matthew Larson, Jeffrey Rumback, Terry Schell and Ken Jones. Good friend/brother Craig Moll.
