Edna Rae

(Sinn) Lovell passed away on December 8, 2023 at the age of 92. Memorial services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, Dec. 13th at the First Christian Church, Sterling and at 10:00 am Friday, Dec. 15th at the Wells of Faith Church, Cheyenne Wells.

She was born November 15, 1931 at her parents' farm home near Alexandria, NE, where she grew up, attending District 52 North Prairie school and Alexandria high school. She had one brother, Ben. She attended and graduated from Hastings College with a degree in education. Her first job was as a student teacher in Sidney, NE and there, she met her future husband, Carl Lovell, at a barn dance. They were married August

15, 1954 and moved to Fort Collins, CO where she taught at Fort Collins and Timnath schools while Carl pursued a degree at Colorado A&M. Their twin daughters, Susan and Sally, were born at the Fort Collins hospital and a year later, their son Lynn was born there too.

In the spring of 1958, they moved to

Cheyenne Wells, CO where Carl was offered a job with the Soil Conservation Service. Edna taught the first kindergarten classes in Cheyenne Wells and later taught different elementary grades. She loved to teach about nature and won the Southwestern States Conservation Teacher of the Year In 1972. In 1973, she completed her Master's Degree in Education having spent several summers at Western State

University in Gunnison, CO.

She was always active in the Cheyenne Wells United Methodist church for more than fifty years. She was active in her kids' lives, and in traveling around the USA. After 31 years, she retired in 1991. She and Carl did some traveling, including Alaska and Hawaii.

They joined the Colorado Eastern Historical Society, and helped with the grandkids as they came along. She also really enjoyed Red Hats get-togethers.

Their daughter Susan married Ken Lindbloom and they had two daughters, Kristen, and Kelsey. Susan passed away in 2018. Their daughter Sally married Francis Jefferson and had two daughters as well, Kathryn and Elizabeth. Their son Lynn married Sue Moreau and had triplets, Neil (married to Jessica Drake), Eric (married to Erin Tracy) and Emily. Her only sibling, Ben Sinn passed away in 1995. Carl passed away in 2011.

She moved to Sterling in 2017 to live with

Lynn and his family.

Due to a debilitating illness, she moved into assisted living at the Devonshire nursing home in 2019 where she spent her remaining years.

She attended the Sterling First Christian Church and became active in their CWF as well as Bible studies and many activities in the nursing home. She loved her almost daily walks around the courtyard there. She always had warmth and compassion in her heart and a smile on her face. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family but is nearby in the loving care of her Heavenly Father. What our eyes can't see our hearts still believe. Someday, we will see you again, Mom. Until then, go with God.
