Colorado passed away on Friday, December 8,

2023 in Sterling. A Rosary Service will be held Saturday, December 16 at 9:30 am at St. Anthony's

Lavern was born May 19, 1950 in Sterling to George and Clara (Korbe) Lambrecht. He grew up in the Sterling area surrounded by a large extended family. Vern graduated from St. Anthony's Catholic High School, Northeaste­rn Junior College, and the University of Northern Colorado. After college he was drafted into the United States Army for two years and served in Germany in the artillery unit. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a Port of Entry Officer for 10 years in Durango, Sterling, and Fort Morgan. Vern married Joyce Brekel on February 16, 1980 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fleming. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 25 years. After retiring from the Postal Service, Vern enjoyed working part-time at Major Liquors.

Vern was an avid sports fan, and he was dedicated to watching all of the Colorado teams. He enjoyed attending the numerous concerts of his musical daughters and granddaugh­ters. Vern's hobbies included playing cards, home improvemen­t, going on drives, and cooking big Sunday dinners. He was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, NJC Alumni

Associatio­n, UNC Alumni Associatio­n, National Associatio­n of Letter Carriers Union, VFW, and Elks BPOE.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce, three daughters,

Annette Lambrecht, Janelle and Troy Nicolaus, and Lynnsey and Curtis Kelch, and two granddaugh­ters, Angie and Penny Nicolaus. He is survived by his stepmother, Irene Lambrecht, four siblings, Jerry (Sue) Lambrecht, Karen

(Lyle) Borcher, Duane (Sandy) Lambrecht, and Richard Lambrecht; three brothers-in-law, Ralph (Trudy) Brekel, Marvin (Judy) Brekel, and Leo (Debbie) Brekel; and stepsister­s Connie Evans, Donna (Rod) Boothe, Coleen (Tim) Leibert, and Jeannie (Rex) Pomeroy. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, George and Clara Lambrecht, parents-in-law, Albert and Agnes Brekel, sisters-in-law, Audrey Brekel and Sally Lambrecht, and stepbrothe­r, Dennis Korbe.

Vern's generous spirit lives on through organ and tissue donation. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made to the Lavern Lambrecht Memorial Fund in care of Tennant Funeral Home, PO Box 1547, Sterling,
