Looking ahead to the 2024 election cycle

2024 Election dates: Tuesday, Jan. 2: Last day to affiliate with a major or minor party in order to run as a party candidate in the primary (either through nomination or petition).

Tuesday, Jan. 2: Last day to register as unaffiliat­ed, in order to be placed in nomination (by petition) as an unaffiliat­ed candidate.

Tuesday, Jan. 16: First day to circulate major party candidate petitions for the Primary Election (Not before third Tuesday in January). Tuesday, March 19: Last day to file major party candidate petitions for the Primary.

Monday, Feb. 5: First day to circulate minor party candidate petitions. (No later than 22 days before the first Tuesday in March). Monday, April 1: Last day to file minor party candidate petitions. (No later than 85 days before primary election)

Monday, Feb. 12: Last day for voters who are affiliated with a political party to change or withdraw their affiliatio­n if they wish to vote in a different party’s primary election for the March 5 Presidenti­al Primary (Up to and including the 22nd day before the Primary Election)

Monday, Feb. 12:: Last day to submit an applicatio­n to register to vote at a voter registrati­on drive. (No later than 22 days before the election)

Feb. 12-Feb. 16: Mail delivery ballots will be sent for the Presidenti­al Primary Election (Not sooner than 22 days before the Primary Election)

Friday, Feb. 16: Last day to affiliate with the Republican Party in order to vote in the March 9 Party Precinct Caucuses. (22 days before)

Friday, Feb. 16: Last day to affiliate with the Democratic Party in order to vote in the March 9 Party Precinct Caucuses. (22 days before)

Friday, Feb. 16: Last day to update your voter registrati­on address to participat­e in the March 9 Republican Party Precinct Caucuses. (Must be a resident of the precinct for 22 days and registered to vote no later than 22 days before the precinct caucus)

Friday, Feb. 16: Last day to update your voter registrati­on address to participat­e in the March 9 Democratic Party Precinct Caucuses. (Must be a resident of the precinct for 22 days and registered to vote no later than 22 days before the precinct caucus)

Monday, Feb. 26: Last day for an individual to submit a voter registrati­on applicatio­n and still receive a ballot in the mail. (Through the 8th day before an election)

Saturday, March 2: Clerk and Recorder’s Office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon for replacemen­t ballots, receipt of ballots or to register to vote.

Tuesday, March 5: PRESIDENTI­AL PRIMARY ELECTION (Ballots can be dropped off at the Logan County Courthouse, 315 Main St., Suite 3, Sterling, CO or in the 24/7 Drop box located in the parking lot east side 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Friday, April 19: Last day a write-in candidate may file an Affidavit of Intent for the June 25 Primary Election. (By close of business on the 67th day before the primary)

Friday, April 26: Last day for an unaffiliat­ed voter to give notice in writing to the county clerk that he or she wishes to serve as an election judge for the June 25th Primary Election. (No later than 60 days before primary election)

Thursday, May 16: First day an unaffiliat­ed candidate may circulate or obtain signatures on a petition for nomination for the General Election. (An unaffiliat­ed candidate may not circulate a petition or gather signatures earlier than 173 days before the General Election) Last day to file is July 11, 2024. (No more than 117 days before the 2024 General Election)

Monday, June 3: Last day for voters who are affiliated with a political party to change or withdraw their affiliatio­n if they wish to vote in a different party’s state primary election (Up to and including the 22nd day before the Primary Election)

Monday, June 3: Last day to submit an applicatio­n to register to vote at a voter registrati­on drive. (No later than 22 days before the election)

June 3-7: Mail delivery ballots will be sent for the State Primary Election (Not sooner than 22 days before the Primary Election)

Monday, June 17: Last day for an individual to submit a voter registrati­on applicatio­n and still receive a ballot in the mail. (Through the 8th day before an election)

Saturday, June 22: Clerk and Recorder’s Office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon for replacemen­t ballots, receipt of ballots or to register to vote.

Tuesday, June 25: PRIMARY ELECTION (Ballots can be dropped off at the Logan County Courthouse 315 Main Street Suite 3, Sterling, CO or in the 24/7 Drop box located in the parking lot east side 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Thursday, July 11: Last day to file an unaffiliat­ed candidate nomination petition. (117th day before the General 2024 Election)

Thursday, July 18: Last day for a write-in candidate to file an Affidavit of Intent for the 2024 General Election. (By the close of business on the 110th day before the 2024 General Election)

Friday, July 26: Last day for a political subdivisio­n to notify the county clerk in writing that it has taken formal action to participat­e in the 2024 General Election. (100 days before the 2024 General Election)

Oct. 14-18: Mail delivery ballots will be sent for the General Election (Not sooner than 22 days before the election)

Tuesday, Oct. 15: Last day to submit an applicatio­n to register to vote through a voter registrati­on drive. (No later than 22 days before the election)

Monday, Oct. 28: Last day to submit a voter registrati­on applicatio­n and still receive a ballot in the mail. (Through eight days before the election)

Saturday, Nov. 2: Clerk and Recorder’s Office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon for replacemen­t ballots, receipt of ballots or to register to vote.

Tuesday, Nov. 5: GENERAL ELECTION (OPEN) 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Ballots can be dropped off at the Logan County Courthouse, 315 Main St. Suite 3, Sterling, CO or in the 24/7 Drop Box located in the parking lot east side 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

ELECTION DAY ONLY: Three Voter Service and Polling Centers will be available; TBD

Logan County Clerk and Motor Vehicle Offices will be closed the following days in December for the holidays to allow our employees time to spend with their families: Friday, Dec. 22; Monday, Dec. 25; Monday, Jan. 1, 2024.
