Two great programs, one healthier you

- By Haxtun Health

Haxtun Health and CSU Extension are joining forces this winter to offer not just one, but two extraordinary programs that will help you reach your health goals in 2024. Beginning in January, the Haxtun Health Weight Loss Program will work hand-in-hand with CSU Extension’s “Ahealthier Weigh,” ensuring a comprehensive and enriching journey towards wellness and weight loss. You can enroll in the programs independently, or for an unparalleled wellness adventure, seize the chance to enroll in both programs!

Haxtun Health Weight Loss Program

The Haxtun Health Weight Loss Program is a free program beginning Jan.18 to energize your new year. Guided by Wendy Evans MSPT and Jenn Bott RN, a NASM Certified Wellness Coach, the program unfolds weekly over 12 weeks at the Haxtun Community Center, each session lasting 60 to 90 minutes.

This course delves deep into fundamental aspects of weight loss. Participants explore topics such as defining healthy eating, tailored exercises for weight loss, fostering a healthy mindset, understanding supplements, the influence of hormones on hunger, sustaining motivation, diverse diet strategies, and the research substantiating various approaches.

For added benefit, an optional exercise component follows each educational lecture, providing participants a glimpse into diverse exercise styles integral to a weight loss journey.

To secure your spot and gather more details, visit Haxtunhealth.org or reach out to Wendy at wevans@ haxtunhealth.org or 970774-6123. Space is limited and once the class reaches capacity, registration will close. Transform your lifestyle with the Haxtun Health Weight Loss Program!

A Healthier Weigh

“A Healthier Weigh” program, sponsored by Colorado State University Extension in northeast Colorado counties, allows for a fun, supportive environment with online educational lessons, step competition, wellness challenges, and an activity competition. This health and fitness program focuses on increasing activity, making wiser food choices, and living a healthier lifestyle.

The program costs $40/ person with opportunities to compete in adult teams of 4, teams of 2, or as an individual. A Healthier Weigh kicks off at the beginning of January. During weighins, participants will use the Inbody scanner, which is a sophisticated machine that provides feedback on your weight and breaks down your body analysis — body fat, water, lean muscle mass, BMR, and segmental strength. A Healthier Weigh program officially starts on Monday, Jan. 15.

Participants will earn points throughout the 12 weeks for recorded activities and completed lessons on health and nutrition, available on the Golden Plains Area Extension website, via email, or in print form. CASH prizes will be given at the conclusion of the challenge.
