CREVE COEUR - Robert G. “Bob” Pool, 86, formerly of Creve Coeur, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at his home in Louin, Mississipp­i.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1937, in Pontiac, Illinois, to Albert J. and Ethel (Salmon) Pool, both deceased.

After attending East Peoria high school, Bob joined the Marines, always taking great pride in his service. He went on to work for TP&W Railroad, retiring after 28 years.

Bob married, and raised four children: Michelle Stalter (Scott), and Barry, Gary (Lisa), and Jim (Kim) Pool.

Later, Bob married Elizabeth Scott (McFarland), and raised three stepsons: Chris (Catalina), Eric (Erin), and Jason McFarland.

Bob loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with family and friends. He was an active member of the Grotto’s of North America, serving as past Monarch of Abbas Grotto, and past President of the Midwest Grotto Assoc. He then went on to serve as Grand Monarch and was always very proud of this organizati­on.

He had a very devout Christian life, as a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Peoria. After moving with his wife, Elizabeth (“Sam”), to Mississipp­i, he became very active in the Bay Springs Methodist Church.

Surviving are his loving wife, Elizabeth Pool; his four children; his three stepsons; brothers, Albert J. “Jim” Pool (Geri), Phillip Pool (Barb), and Clyde Pool; his sister, Cindy Pufahl (Bill); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Bob also is survived by 13 grandchild­ren and 13 great-grandchild­ren, all of whom he was very proud and loved so much.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Bay Springs Methodist Church, with funeral services immediatel­y following. Burial will be in Double Church Cemetery in Raleigh, Mississipp­i. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs, Mississipp­i, is handling arrangemen­ts. A celebratio­n of life will be held in his home area of Illinois at a later date.
