linen from Zweigart®* • One skein each DMC® or Presencia® six-strand

embroidery floss* • Size 24 tapestry needle *See Where to Find It on page 64. Stitch Count Jonquil: 64H x 54W Rose: 61H x 47W Design Size Jonquil: 45/8" x 37/8" Rose: 43/ 8" x 33/ 8"

Instructio­ns: Cross stitch over two threads using two strands of floss. Work 1/4 cross stitch where small symbols appear using two strands of floss. When two colors are bracketed together, use one strand of each.

Backstitch over two threads using one strand of floss.

Work straight stitch for jonquil stamen using one strand 721/7567.

Work French knot for jonquil centers where appears using one strand 721/7567 and wrapping floss around needle twice. Finishing Materials & Instructio­ns • Two 6" wooden hoops • Two spools coordinati­ng 1/8"-wide

ribbon • Two 6"x 6" pieces of Presto™

Cashmere Tan Sticky Back Felt • Pen or pencil • Double-sided tape *See Where to Find It on page 64.

Press stitched piece from reverse side, straighten­ing as much as possible. Center stitched piece over inner hoop and mark linen 3/4" from hoop; cut out stitched piece. Place double-sided tape around the inside of the smaller inner hoop. Center design again on inner hoop and wrap ends to back of hoop along the tape to hold piece tightly.

Trace outside edge onto paper side of felt; cut out and set aside.

Place double-sided tape around larger outer wooden hoop. Wrap with ribbon.

Place outside hoop over smaller hoop with stitched piece; tighten knob to secure piece. Pull paper from Sticky Back Felt and place sticky side over back of hoop, hiding excess linen.

Tie ribbon in a bow to embellish top. Repeat for remaining stitched piece.
