When I was growing up we had a pole lamp in the living room. It had three curved, brass arms topped with white hobnail milk-glass shades. One year Mom bought three decorative elves, and she always sat them in the crook of the arms on the lamp. Styles came and went, but every Christmas the elves were there.

This design is dedicated to the memory of my mom. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!

Holiday Gelatin Salad

1 large box of cherry or raspberry gelatin 1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed 1 (14-ounce) can whole berry cranberry sauce 1 (15-ounce) can fruit cocktail, drained 1 (11-ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained Optional: 1 jar maraschino cherries, rinsed and drained Shredded coconut Mini marshmallows Toasted, chopped pecans or walnuts

In large bowl, fold gelatin powder into whipped topping. Then fold in cranberry sauce and fruit.

Options: Add cherries, coconut, marshmallows, nuts or whatever sounds good to you!

Cover and refrigerate.
