Christmas was time spent with family and friends when I was growing up. The day would start with gifts from Santa. Ours arrived at the end of the bed in a pillowcase. We would all wake early and rush into Mum and Dad’s bedroom to open the presents. We had the same routine each year: have breakfast and then get ready for any visitors before we dove into the tree presents. The tree and presents were always at the bottom of the stairs in our hall and seemed to cover the floor— brightly colored, big and small, and very exciting. Dad would be Santa giving the presents out one by one. We would try to be patient and take turns, but we would just want to dive in. Christmas Day with the family and relatives is a lovely memory.
