KACC - Operation Back to School Drive

-

Kane Area Community Center (KACC) is having its Operation Back to School Sneakers, Socks, and Backpacks Drive.

Donations of new sneakers, socks, and backpacks may be dropped off at the Kane Area Community Center Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. starting today. Monetary donations are also needed, accepted, and appreciated.

During the first year of this program, 30 students were served. Last year more than 125 students of the KASD received new sneakers, socks, and backpacks to begin the new school year thanks to all of our sponsors and neighbors.

If you are shopping for backpacks, please make sure they are big enough to hold a folder. Even the preschoolers bring a folder back and forth to school for their papers, so it should be big enough to fit a standard-sized folder.

Families who would like to request items for their children, must stop in the center and fill out a blue request form beginning today until Friday, August 12. There are no income guidelines to qualify. Any family in need may participate.

There is no guarantee that specific styles and colors will be available. This program is strictly first come first serve as supplies are available. We will do our best to make sure everyone in need is helped.

Distribution will be for one week on Sunday, August 14 until Saturday, August 20 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

All children should be preregistered to assure the appropriate size is available. If you bring your child in as a walk-in, they may have to wait a week to pick up their things.

Children must be present to receive items. No shoes go home without the child trying them on. They must wear socks to try shoes on. If they don’t have socks on, they will have to use a pair of their new socks.

Every child must have a form filled out to receive items. This is how the center tracks the need for future programs/grants/etc.

This program is only available for children attending school in the Kane Area School District in grades Pre-k to 12.
