Haight Serves Thirty-nine Years in the American Red Cross Organization
Ludlow Resident and Chairperson of volunteer workers, Judy Haight has been in the Red Cross Organization for 39 years and although it’s been challenging, she enjoys all of her helpful volunteers.
“I couldn’t ask for a better group,” Haight said on August 1.
Haight’s journey with the Red Cross began when she served on the Red Cross Board in Bradford. She was asked to help out by an individual that was retiring.
“I just fell into the job of coordinating the Blood Drives,” Haight explained.
She said originally she was volunteering to help and then was asked to take it over.
Haight said that she appreciates the First Baptist Church allowing them to use the facility to have the Blood Drive and says it is an ideal spot along with being handicapped accessible.
Ann Chapman is a volunteer who registers incoming donors for the Red Cross Blood Drive at the First Baptist Church in Kane.
“It is a good thing to be able to volunteer at the American Red Cross,” Chapman said.
Karen Ryding volunteers to keep food on the table for the donors to eat/drink after donating blood.
“It gives me something to do and keeps me occupied,” Ryding said.
Haight reported 17 productive units (15 whole blood and 2 double red cells). She also reported the Plateau being Robert Mosier from Kane with a donation total of 19 gallons.
Staff included Ann Chapman and Pinky Holt as Registrars, Judy Haight and Karen Ryding for Kitchen duty, and John Dewalt, Bob James, Craig Wensel, Geoff Perry, Rich Danielson, and Don Holt serving as Custodians.
The next Red Cross Blood Drive at the First Baptist Church in Kane will be Monday, October 3.
