Ellanne M. “Zelda” Olewinski
Ellanne M. “Zelda” Olewinski, age 102, of Rasselas, PA, died July 29, 2022 at Sena Kean Manor. A daughter of the late George B. and Vera (Patterson) Laughlin, she was born on April 7, 1920 in Johnsonburg, PA.
Besides her parents, Zelda was predeceased by: her husband, Charles A. Olewinski; a granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Malobicky; two sisters, Rose Swanson and Vera Johnson; two daughter's-in-law, Leona Olewinski and Cora Olewinski; and a son-inlaw, Steve Malobicky, Sr.
Zelda enjoyed living with five generations of her family. She is survived by: five children, Frances Malobicky of Wilcox, Charles Olewinski of Wilcox, George Olewinski of Rasselas, Michael Olewinski of Rasselas and Cindy (Robert) Finn of Riverton, WY; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Zelda had lived in Johnsonburg until four years old, lived in Wilcox for twenty eight years and lived in Rasselas since 1952. She was a graduate of Wilcox High School Class of 1939 and a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. She had worked for Stackpole Carbon of Kane; and worked as a Cook/ Waitress for the Grant House, Gilmore's Restaurant,
Mcfarland House and Weavers Inn. She was a member of the Wilcox American Legion, Wilcox Senior Center and Wilcox Fire Department – where she had helped raise funds for the first Wilcox ambulance, many years ago. She had also been active with the Girl Scouts and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
There will be no public visitation.
The family will be receiving friends from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2022 at St. Anne's Catholic Church of Wilcox.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place, 10:00 a.m., Monday, at the church with Father David Wilson.
The family suggests memorials to the Elk County Humane Society and will be accepting online condolences at (www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com).
The Ubel Funeral Home of Johnsonburg has been entrusted with final arrangements.
