Snyder and Hallberg Spearhead a Fundraising Event for Kane VFD
Exhibitionists rolled on into the Kane Family Drive-in with their cars and trucks, ready to compete for the Best of Show that was coordinated by First Assistant Chief for the Kane Fire Department, Daryl Snyder, and show coordinator, Herold Hallberg,
Hallberg said 32 participants registered for the car show that was held at the drive-in and some traveled as far as Coudersport and Dubois.
Hallberg said many of the individuals that registered did not make it to the event and he feels that it was due to the threat of rain. He stated that it was still a good turnout.
“Thank you to Lowell Watts for donating the use of the drive-in. Thank you to all who participated, including vendors, and to all who came to support the show,” Hallberg said.
“I also want to thank my wife, Jan Hallberg, who helped me tremendously,” Hallberg added.
The owner of the Kane Family Drive-in, Lowell Watts, said that the Kane VFD is one of the most committed groups he has ever encountered with their dedication to the community without ever complaining.
Watts stated that there were some “awesome cars” that were registered in the car show.
“It is great to watch the community come together to do things like this event to support a local cause,” Watts said.
Kane Resident, Tom Maybury entered his 1964 Ford, F150 Truck into the car show.
Maybury said he has had the truck for almost 8 years and runs it until the snow flies. The restoration work was done before Maybury purchased the truck.
Maybury said the Kane VFD does a great job and it was nice to have a fundraiser for the fire department.
“Lowell Watts is doing a lot of good stuff at the Kane Drive-in and I like coming out here,” Maybury said.
Kane Firemen and Fire Police were present at the event.
“We greatly appreciate the community’s support,” Kane Fire Chief, Matt Bressler said.
The Best of Show was a 1931 Dodge Coupe owned by Kevin Schafer.
