Pennsylvania Department of Education reviewed the Single Audit Report of KASD
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has reviewed the Single Audit Report of the Kane Area School District for the year ending June 30, 2022.
The scope of the review covered financial data presented in the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards, reported Superintendent of the KASD (Kane Area School District), Jeannine Kloss. PDE has informed the district that, with respect to the federal financial assistance programs funded by this agency, the Single Audit Report is approved as being substantially in compliance with Federal Awards regulations and other relevant federal and Commonwealth policies.
Kloss thanked Mrs. Gabriel., Mrs. Lorenzo, and their respective staff for their "impeccable" documentation of these programs throughout these processes.
She added at Thursday's Regular School Board Meeting that school will be in session on February 17 to make up for a cancelation earlier this school year. February 20 is still a school vacation day.
She congratulated the Middle School and High School Reading Competition Teams who both took first place in the reading competition held in Bradford on Tuesday, February 7.
The Middle School read from a list of 30 books and the High School read from a list of 40 books.
The students participated in three rounds of questioning that can include topics from all of the listed books and increased in difficulty with each round.
The Middle School Team had 6th-grade participants, Aurora Forsythe, Peyton Gillespie, Carle Port, and Allison Walters. Kylie Boylan and Aubrey Mischic were the 7thgrade participants. Terin Boschert, Rylee Oakes, and Rory Undercoffer (CAPT) were 8th-grade participants. Advisors were Christa Buck and Josie Feikls.
The High School Team had 9th-grade participants, Landon Woods and Sofia Bailey. The 10th-grade participants were Mackenzie Bently, Novalee Corliss, and Baileigh Mallery. The 11th-grade participants were Anna Meyers, Kaylin Gillespie, Satene Banks, and Kate Parana (CAPT). Kelly Johnson was the advisor. Those who contributed to the preparation but were not able to attend were Bailey Snyder (10th grade) and Raeann Raught (11th grade).
The meeting moved on to approvals of the KASD Board of Directors, first approving the bid awards for the Miscellaneous Improvement for the Kane Area High School as follows:
1. For General Construction, to Fred L. Burns, Inc. for $262,200.
2.For HVAC Construction, to Renick Brothers for $1,083,000.
3. For Plumbing Construction to Enders Plumbing and Heating Company, for $67,500.
4. For Electrical Construction, to Blackhawk Neff, Inc. for $141,342.

provements Project at the High School which is located in Wetmore Township.
