Kane has two AML Wrestling Challenge Champions
Bradford - The Kane Wrestling Team traveled to Bradford for the inaugural AML Wrestling Challenge. The tournament was a tune up for the District Wrestling Championships which will be held February 24 - 25 at Clarion University. It gave an opportunity for kids to wrestle kids they may see at Districts but also a chance to wrestle ones they may not see. It was a great tournament for Kane as eight of the nine wrestlers that went placed in the top four with two coming home as Champions in Reece Bechakas at 152 pounds and Addison Plants at 172 pounds. Bechakas defeated Rylan Arnold from Port Allegany by Tech Fall 15-0 while
Plants pinned John Wright from Coudersport in 3:41. The lower five weight classes were dominated by Sheffield as they won four of the first five. Oswayo Valley won the opening class that combined 107 114. The next seven classes Kane, Port Allegany and Bradford each won two while Coudersport won the other. Luke Ely lost another tough match to Lukas Laktash from Bradford 2-0 with Laktash getting a reversal for the only two points of the match in the third period. Two of the other matches that were great matches to watch were the 215 weight class where Miska Young of Port Allegany and Gavyn Ayers from Coudersport wrestled three scoreless periods before Ayers was able to get a takedown in overtime for the win. Then at Heavyweight Carson Neely of Port Allegany outlasted Cooper Rossman from Coudersport for a 1-0 win. In the Championship matches five were won via pinfall and two won by techfall so it was an action packed night for the fans to watch. Port Allegany was the team first place winner followed by Sheffield.
