Kane BAH to be revamped

- By Beth L. Koop Editor

KANE- The Kane Chamber of Commerce is revamping their Business After Hours (BAH) events to not only include time to socialize, but also for businesses and their employees to have some team building.

The former BAH events will now be known as the Biz Crew and will meet at various businesses quarterly instead of monthly. The first Biz Crew event will be Thursday, March 16 at Logyard Brewing starting at 5 p.m.

The new goals for the events will be networking, team building, learning relevant information to enhance business, supporting business managers and owners, showing appreciation, involving the community, and creating a fun and safe environment to help encourage the businesses the chamber serves.

According to Chamber Executive Director, Kate Kennedy, the new Biz Crew events will include social time, a brief talk on relevant information for businesses, and then time for a trivia competition for business owners and employees to team up and compete against other businesses.

“It’s just a way to foster good friendships and have conversations through competitions like that,” Kennedy said. “So we thought it would strengthen relationships between employees and give businesses a time to get together doing something fun.”

Kennedy added the change from the more traditional BAH comes from the chamber wanting to create an event that allows social time, but also meaningful learning.

“People are really busy, especially people who are running businesses. So we wanted to make it worthwhile to not just come and talk, but to have some kind of learning to take away. We really want it to be a value added event.” she said.

Biz Crew will be open to all businesses and community members.
