Barbie & Friends Sparkle Party set for February 4
JOHNSONBURG - Calling all Barbie fans. Barbie is coming to Johnsonburg!
A Barbie & Friends Sparkle Party is set for Sunday, Feb. 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Johnsonburg Fire Hall. The party will be filled with lots of Barbie fun including face painting, makeup, nail and hair styling stations, games and crafts, music and dancing, a photo booth and light refreshments.
The event, which is being hosted by Gather on the Grass Worship, is a different spin on their previous ‘Princess Parties.’
According to event coordinator, Janice Schatz, with the popularity of this year’s Barbie movie, the organization decided to change the theme of the party to highlight Barbie and her friends for this year’s fundraiser.
“We thought we’d try something a little different. We thought it would be fun since the movie was such a big hit,” Schatz said. “Instead of the fantasy with the princess theme, we thought we’d promote a little bit more that girls can be whatever they want to be.”
She added that there will also be some activities for boys and some Barbie trivia for the adults.
The organization is also looking for volunteers to help with decorating, preparing and serving refreshments, and help with games and activities for the event.
All proceeds will go toward the 2024 Soul Stock music festival in St. Marys. The annual Soul Stock event, which is Christian music festival, will be held this year for its fifth year. Soul Stock is held each July at Depot Street Event Park in downtown St. Marys.
Schatz said more and more people are becoming aware of Soul Stock each year and they hope to encourage even more people to attend this year.
“We have an opportunity with this festival to really grow this for the community as something that would bring people here. You have to go pretty far to go to a big festival. People like Christian music and it’s growing more popular,” Schatz said.
