Mount Jewett Swedish Association's financial support for Project Graduation
Last year, the Mount Jewett Swedish Association (MJSA), formerly known as the Mount Jewett Swedish Festival, attained 501(c) (3) status, marking a significant milestone in its journey. With this official recognition, the association adopted a mission dedicated to community enrichment and support. On Monday, members of the association translated this mission into action by contributing $200 to the Kane Area School District Project Graduation Class of 2024.
The graduating class of 2024 is gearing up to transition from high school to the wider world. To mark this milestone, the local committee is organizing a traditional event slated to start immediately after the graduation ceremony at the high school. Scheduled for May 31, the committee is hosting an all-night
party that wraps up at 5 a.m. While the focus is on keeping costs manageable, funds are crucial to cover various expenses such as food, prizes for drawings throughout the night, and other essentials.
As in previous years, the committee diligently reaches out to local businesses and organizations, outlining the purpose of Project Graduation: to provide students with a safe and entertaining celebration as they embark on their post-high school journey. This approach ensures that the festivities remain stationary in a secure environment tailored to young adults. Among those responding to the call is the MJSA.
Leslie Davis, Board President of the MJSA, expressed that one of the association's core missions is to reinvest in the community. Consequently, they aim to select projects that not only enhance the festival experience but also
offer benefits to the local populace.
Skye Peterson, representing Project Graduation and present to collect the donated check, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Kane Area 2024 seniors. "Tack så mycket!" they conveyed, meaning thanks so much, to the Mount Jewett Swedish Festival Association for their contribution to this year's Project Graduation. Peterson emphasized that it's the support of local groups, clubs, businesses, and individuals that ensures the success of this event year after year.
