HOROSCOPES The Low Hum of Aquarius Season

- By Holiday Mathis

Known for their low-frequency vocalizations, often in the range below human hearing, some whales can send sounds through hundreds or even thousands of feet of water. This Aquarius Season opens on a deep hum as distant Pluto joins the sun moments after its entrance into Aquarius, giving the profoundly resonant sense of a change a’coming.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You’re not one to wait for some hero to emerge from the shadows to save the day. You’re the hero. Time after time you step into the light and rescue it on your own. You’ll do it again. By now it’s starting to become easy for you.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). It’s OK to do more than your fair share of the work... but every time? Get a better balance going. If you keep doing it, they’ll keep letting you. So don’t rush to fix things. Let the others have a chance to pitch in.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You’ll take a closer look at your attitude and ask it to account for itself. Is it warranted? Does it reflect the truth of the situation you’re in? You’ll take a few of your thoughts to task too. This is the stuff of change.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You’re a part of a group, perhaps unofficially, but still, as much a part of it as you feel, and certainly as much a part of it as anyone else. You’ll take responsibility for the people around you. You want everyone to feel included and they will.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). It takes confidence to point out to someone how special and integral their unique contribution is to your life. It’s a risk, as every gift is a risk. Few risks are more worth taking than the ones you take to build connection.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). One of two things is going to have to happen for you to excel at today’s challenge. You’ll either alter the challenge, or you’ll alter your approach to it, but one way or another, you’ll make a change and succeed.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Give yourself some advice. Like most people receiving advice you probably won’t apply it, but there’s still something to be gained in this you-toyou exchange. In a sense, you’ll be reconciling the different parts of you, and that makes you stronger.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Have confidence in where you’re coming from and what you’re capable of. Thinking you should be some other version of yourself isn’t helpful and will only diffuse your power. You are enough as you are. Believe.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You declare, “let there be...” and then there is. In fact, you’re so adept at bringing things into being today, you must be very careful about the words you speak, as they are sure to conjure up some impressive stuff.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Socialites go to the preshow to be photographed and seen. Professionals go to the event because it’s contractually required. Everyone goes to the after-party because it’s fun. That’s where people relax and connect.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). In the early stages, you cannot know the difference between a passing fancy and a longstanding fixture of passion. But time will tell. For now, treat everything exciting with respect and as much reserve as you can muster.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Actions do speak louder than words, but somehow the words will be easier to remember. The sweet utterances you long to hear will fall beautifully on your ears. You are cherished.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Jan. 20). You’re an extraordinary force in the lives of others. They’ll celebrate your uniqueness and marvel in your light. You’ll pick up skills; each opens more opportunity to shine. Karma points you racked up in the past will come back to you in a big gesture. Partnerships will be a source of pride, challenge and the motivation to realize a dream. Gemini and Scorpio adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 21, 6, 28, 32 and 15.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: In his new book “Soul Boom: Why We Need a Spiritual Revolution” actor, producer and writer Rainn Wilson explores the problem-solving benefits of spirituality in a world of complex challenges. Unlike Dwight Schrute, the megalomaniac he played on “The Office,” Wilson exemplifies the humanitarian ideals of his sign, as exemplified in the website he founded, SoulPancake.com -- a mind-expanding, feel-good, artistic place in cyberspace. Wilson was born when the Sun, Venus and Mars were in Aquarius.
