Dianne Mae Campbell

- On the eighth day of February 2024, Dianne M. Campbell, known to all as Dee, passed away at home in the company of her husband Matt of 42 years, Matt and his brother and best man Clay. She was born on St. Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1955, in Bellingham, Washington to D. Theodore (Ted) and Bonnie M. Wright (West). She was the younger of their two children. Dennis Wright was her loving brother and preceded her in death. The Wright family moved back to Kitsap County and made their home in Port Orchard and Manchester. Dee attended South Kitsap High School when she excelled scholastically, becoming one of the top students upon her graduation in 1973. She remained close to many of her excellent classmates and greatly enjoyed their continuing relationships. Dee attended WSU and graduated in 1977 and upon her return to Kitsap County was hired by the DOD, Navy, in the Human Resources Department at PSNS in 1978. Later in her career, she moved to HRSC NW in Silverdale where she ended her career through retirement. One of her many notable accomplishments was conducting the apprentice hires for many years and many of the apprentices remember Dee’s kind and professional attention. While working at PSNS she met her future husband Matthew Campbell, also an apprentice, and they were married on May 16, 1981. This wonderful marriage produced two great children, Zachary G. Campbell of Seattle and Audrey M. Campbell (Norris) of Anacortes. She was a doting grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren: Teddy, Vivian and Carys. Dee was an excellent hostess and greatly enjoyed knitting, sewing, house designing, and fishing with her family. She also baked excellent pies. She knitted hats and scarves for cancer sufferers that she met while in treatment herself for ovarian cancer, which finally took her life after 7 years of struggle. Two notable friends of hers are Danel Heimer and Tammy Johnson, who stayed with her many hours. She had a most excellent oncologist, Dr. Michael Bidus, and considered him a true blessing. A memorial wake and potluck will be held at their house on May 18, 2024. All who know her are welcome. Arrangements entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton, Washington.
