Childers scheduled to play TBA in 2024

- Devarrick Turner

Tyler Childers is bringing the love to Knoxville. The Appalachian folk singer is playing Thompson-Boling Arena next year on his “Mule Pull ‘24” world tour.

Childers and his longtime band, the Food Stamps, will perform in Knoxville on April 16. Tickets go on sale Sept. 15 at noon. All tickets will be sold online via Ticketmaster.

Presale tickets will be available Sept. 13. Registration for presale access is open as of Sept. 6 via Ticketmaster.

The tour is in support of the two-time Grammy nominee’s upcoming album, “Rustin’ in the Rain,” which releases Sept. 8.

Country music group 49 Winchester is the special guest for the Knoxville show. Childers also has April tour dates scheduled in Nashville.

Childers performed at the Rhythm N’ Blooms Festival in Knoxville’s Old City in 2019.

A hit video with an Appalachian love story

Childers has had a monumental 2023. The music video for his new single, “In Your Love,” became a viral and critical hit in July for being “a muchneeded portrait of inclusivity,” as USA TODAY reported. It has over six million views on YouTube and 30 million streams.

The song is about the devotion to a loved one, and the music video chronicled the love story between two men in 1950s rural Appalachia. The video was praised amid controversy over Jason Aldean’s music video for “Try That in a Small Town.”
