KNOXVILLE - Randall “Randy” Ray Banks, age 55, of Knoxville, TN went home to be with his Savior, on January 7th, 2024. He was born in Knoxville, TN on July 2, 1968. His parents, Ray Banks and Gale Banks also of Knoxville. Randy was a graduate of Halls High School in 1986 where he played on the 1986 State Championsh­ip football team. He had many awards of excellence which led him to Middle Tennessee State University where he played football and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was also voted Mr. MTSU. He transferre­d to the University of Tennessee where he played and lettered on the 1990 SEC Championsh­ip football team. He later carried his love of football forward to coach at several high schools. He deeply loved and was most proud of his nieces and nephew. Randy was preceded in death by grandparen­ts, Charles and Eileen Faust and Charles and Beatrice Banks; his father, Ronald “Ray” Banks; sister, Debra Banks; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by mother, Brenda “Gale” Banks; sisters, Dana Banks Shull (John), Amy Banks Campbell (Darby); nephew, Taylor Shull (Rachel); nieces, Morgan Shull Peterman (Nathan), Reagan Campbell and Reese Campbell; one great nephew; three great nieces. A special thank you to his friends and neighbors that showed him such kindness. The funeral will be 2 pm, Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Dr. Rev. David Gruhn will officiate. Interment will follow in Lynnhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Boys and Girls Club of Knoxville. Pallbearer­s will be: Joey Seeney, Bill Trent, Todd Boruff, Tim Williams, Jim Shipley, Taylor Shull, Darby Campbell, and John Shull.
