- Eric M. Barnes age 54 of Knoxville, passed away suddenly from a motorcycle accident on Saturday, March 23, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, and a true patriot. Throughout his life, he embodied the values of service, perseveran­ce, and unwavering dedication. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Karns where he served as a shepherd. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy for 26 years. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Illinois and was on the cusp of obtaining his master’s degree in August. He co-founded the Cumberland Chapter of SSMC-Silent Service Motorcycle Club. He cherished every moment spent in the saddle, the camaraderi­e with his brothers who served in the Navy. Through he may have left this world far too soon, Eric’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who cherished him. His legacy of service, perseveran­ce and unconditio­nal love will continue to inspire and uplift future generation­s. Preceded in death by mother-inlaw; Dorothy J. York and sister-in-law; Regina M. Weaver. Survivors; wife, Sherry Barnes; children, Jessica White, Andrew Barnes and James Branch; parents, Richard and Leslie Deyulio; father-in-law, Bob York; brothers, Rick and Nick Deyulio, and Chris Barnes; several cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2024 at Mynatt Powell Chapel 2000 Powell Drive Powell, TN 37849 followed by a 7:00 p.m. Pastor Bryan Thomas officiatin­g. Family and friends will meet 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel to leave in procession for 10:30 a.m. graveside service with full military honors.
