If you’re not committed to staying at home this Saturday Aug. 29, the place to be Festival Americas at Guthrie Green downtown, located at 111 E Mathew B. Brady St, Tulsa, OK 74103.

The event will feature seven spectacula­r performanc­es, be- ginning 4:00 pm. It kicks off with the folk joy of youth from Ballet Tonáthiu. Then comes the tremendous animation of Tamborazo Santacruz, who promises no one will be left without dancing and singing.

The party continues with Mexico’s Serenade to all attendees from Mariachi Santo Domingo, with songs that will always be in fashion.

Suddenly, before you even realize it, the members of the musical Revue Tulsa Tango will be dancing among the crowd. It may be that you’ve never danced tango but you’ll love the sensual air from “Buenos Aires” coming to Tulsa from the South.

Without a pause between all the fun, next will come Brujo Roots, a “Latin funk fusion” group from Tulsa, who bring an exquisite blend of samba, blues, jazz, and reggae for all to enjoy.

Next there will be a break in the entertainm­ent to give scholarshi­ps to two super students, courtesy of Festival Americas’ generous sponsors.

Following the presentati­on of the scholarshi­ps will be the delightful ryhthms of Tulsa Latin Style, who will inspire everyone to dance with favorites such as “Oye Cómo Va” by Santana, and “Llorarás” by León Óscar.

And finally, the closing act will be Navarro y Su Potencia Musical.

You are sure to enjoy all of the above as we celebrate all the countries of Latin America and their cultural diversity: colorful dress, music, food, joy, reunion and nostalgia. You can’t miss it!
