Mariah Carey Will Guest Star on 'Empire' Season Three

Asimismo, la tercera temporada incluirá más estrellas invitadas, entre las que ya se encuentran confirmadas, Taye Diggs, Sierra McClain, el rapero French Montana y el magnate de la música Birdman, quien se interpretará a sí mismo.

De Imagine Television en asociación con 20th Century Fox Television, “Empire” fue creada por el director nominado por la Academia, Lee Daniels (“El mayordomo”, “Precious”) y el guionista ganador del Emmy, Danny Strong (“Game Change”, “The Hunger Games: Sinsajo – Parte 1 y Parte 2”). Fox confirmed on Monday that Mariah Carey, professional diva/singer/actress/future reality show star (Mariah's World is coming this fall, duh) will be guest starring on season three of the hit show.

Carey will not be playing herself, but her role isn't exactly a stretch: she'll play Kitty, a superstar who collaborates with Jamal Lyon on a new song at Empire Records, according to TVLine.com. Kitty helps Jamal find a musical breakthrough after the duo face obstacles while recording. There's no word yet on how Kitty will interact with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), but we do have this potentially revealing Tweet:

So does that mean that Henson and Carey are sharing a scene? We can only hope.

Carey worked with the show's creator, Lee Daniels, on Precious and The Butler, two films that proved Carey actually has acting chops and made everyone forget her 2001 bomb, Glitter. Daniels hinted at Carey playing a role on Empire last year, but it hasn't been confirmed until now.

Season three of Empire premieres on Wednesday, September 21 on Fox. Carey's episode will air on October 5.
