Benicio Del Toro in Talks to Star in Shane Black's 'Predator' Reboot

Benicio del Toro se encuentra en negociaciones para protagonizar la película que relance “Predator”, la conocida saga de terror basada en una aterradora criatura extraterrestre.

Según informó hoy el medio especializado Deadline, el actor puertorriqueño lideraría, si las conversaciones llegaran a buen término, el elenco de esta nueva cinta que dirigirá Shane Black (“Iron Man Three”, 2013; “The Nice Guys”, 2016) con guión de Fred Dekker.

Curiosamente, Black participó como actor con un papel secundario en la cinta original de “Predator” (1987), que contó con Arnold Schwarzenegger como estrel la bajo las órdenes del cineasta John McTiernan (“Die Hard”, 1988).

A esta película le siguieron “Predator 2” (1990), con Danny Glover y el panameño Rubén Blades en el reparto, y “Predators” (2010), con Adrien Brody y Laurence Fishburne como intérpretes principales.

Asimismo, el universo de “Predator” se cruzó con el de otra famosa saga de terror, “Alien”, en los filmes “AVP: Alien vs. Predator” (2004) y “AVPR: Aliens vs Predator – Requiem” (2007).

Benicio Del Toro is in negotiations star in The Predator, the reboot of the alien action movie series that Shane Black is directing for 20th Century Fox.

1980s mainstays John Davis, Joel Silver and Lawrence Gordon are producing.

Plot details are being kept hidden in mud but the new movie is said to be an ensemble piece anchored by the character to be played by Del Toro.

The actor and the studio have been dancing for months around this project but one challenge has been been De Toro’s schedule. But that stumbling block looks to have been cleared and a February 2017 start date is being planned. The studio had no comment. Predator was the muscle-bound action 1987 movie that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura as commandos being stalked in a jungle by a fearsome alien. John McTiernan directed the film, which was one of the movies that cemented Schwarzenegger’s star power.
