USA started the party but Mexico finished it

ENGLISH

Once both teams appeared on the field the party started showing the rest of the world North and South are not meant to be rivals even though politics and games seem to suggest so.

But this time the magic number disappeared. The fist half it was all for Mexico: Coach Osorio decided to align his team 4-2-3-1, protecting the middle field and using his wings to distribute a ball that was meant to end up with the talented feet of Chicharito.

The first goal was scored at minute 25, when Miguel Layun shot the goal post and was intercepted by a defender, a move that eventually left Howard unguarded and turned into the first goal for Mexico. More failed opportunities came at the hands of Tecatito Corona and Carlos Vela, and Mexico thought the gods were on its side.

Klinsmann restructured his team and changed the strategy to 3-5-2 but nothing seemed to stop the Mexicans, who still wanted to suffocate the USA by playing through their wing-men. Noticing there was nothing else to do, after realizing that Tecatito was stronger than Timmy Chandler, Klinsmann changed the strategy once more to 4-4-2 in order to strengthen his defenses.

During the second half of the game Kilnsmann got aggressive; if the US kept on hiding the result would not change, that is why the scheme was 32-4-1. The changes were so good that eventually John Brooks found Jozy Altidore, who assisted Bobby Wood who managed to get into the area and tie the game.

Mexico was compelled to do something if it didn’t want to lose the game. It tried hard to follow Christian Pulisic, and stop attempts from Altidore and Wood, but the chances of scoring were low and the game remained the same.

A corner in the last couple of minutes changed the night. Rafa Marquez moved to the first post and with a fantastic header gave Mexico the game. A historic victory for La TRI, which now embarks on the midnight express towards Russia 2018.
