Christmas Caravan 2016 underway
La Caravana Navideña es una actividad que se ha realizado en la ciudad de Tulsa por al menos 9 años consecutivos y este año so será la excepción.

The Christmas Caravan is an activity that has been taking place in Tulsa for the last 9 years, and in its 2016 edition it promises to be more than unique.
Es posible realizar este evento gracias al apoyo de varios patrocinadores que se dan a la tarea de comprar juguetes para apoyar a los niños de bajos recursos de la ciudad; anteriormente se formaba una caravana de automóviles cargado de regalos para los niños y se hacia un recorrido por algunos barrios de Tulsa para realizar las entregas, pero este año se busca una mejor organización a la hora de estar entregando los juguetes.
Antoinio Perez, quien funge como uno de los organizadores de esta llamada Caravana Navideña nos contó que lo que se busca cambiar para este año será la organización, dijo que se había logrado establecer contacto con algunas iglesias, esto para identificar a personas que tienen necesidad para estas próximas festividades navideñas.
En base a lo anterior los organizadores accedieron a una lista de personas con necesidad proporcionada por las mismas iglesias, y el siguiente paso fue visitar a esas personas y estar preguntando de forma personal cuales son las cosas que mas requieren y posteriormente adquirir esos artículos.
Esta idea según Antonio Pérez surgió en conjunto con el Padre Medina, quien vio la necesidad de varias familias de la iglesia en donde el ministraba, y una semana antes de navidad Antonio y el Padre visitaron a varias familias entregando regalos.
El día de la entrega de regalos se tiene programada para el día 10 de diciembre, pero se ha extendido una invitación para todas aquellas personas quien deseen ayudar con alguna donación para que se acerquen y puedan ser parte de este emotivo movimiento en pro de los que menos tienen.
Además se busca crear un comité de tesoreria para poder armar un fondo que estará siendo utilizado para entregar también apoyo en forma económica a algunas familias.

The Caravan is an event in which local businessmen and community lead- ers from the Hispanic Community decide to buy presents for those unprivileged kids in low income families around the city. The Caravan plays the role of Santa Claus and distributes the presents in different neighborhoods in the Tulsa area.
Antonio Perez is one of the main sponsors of the event and told us that this year the distribution of the presents will be channeled through certain churches that are able to identify the ones in most need. The churches helped create a list of the families that were struggling hard to put food onto the table and the organizers later visited those families to ask them what their priorities were and what they needed the most.
The idea first came to Father Medina, who is very much aware of the situation of his community, and later on with the help of Perez, a volunteer organization was created to give a Christmas present to those kids who otherwise would receive nothing.
The Caravan will start delivering the gifts on December the 10th, and Perez encourages all those who want to make a donation to do so and become a part of a movement that is only meant to see happy faces on the holidays season.
The organization is looking forward to the creation of a treasury capable of administrating monetary donations to help those families who are in need of other kinds of support.
