"Troops to Education" job fair held at TPS

Las Escuelas Públicas de Tulsa fueron sede de una feria de trabajo para veteranos y sus familias llamada "Troops to Education"

La semana pasada, TPS con “Troops to Education” (de las Tropas a la Educación) para ser sede de una feria de trabajo enfocada en traer a veteranos y sus familias a puestos en la educación pública.

La feria de trabajo tuvo lugar de las 8 a.m. a las 2 p.m. en Wilson Teaching and Learning Center ubicado en 2710 E. 11th St. en Tulsa.

Aunque la Feria del Trabajo “Troops to Education” estuvo dirigida a los militares y sus familias, cualquier persona interesada en trabajar para las Escuelas Públicas de Tulsa fue bienvenida.

Entre los puestos vacantes figuran maestros, asistentes del salón de clase, choferes de autobuses, conserjes y personal del departamento de nutrición infantil.

“Troops to Education” es un esfuerzo conjunto por parte del Departamento de Educación de los Estados Unidos y el Departamento de Defensa para ayudar al personal militar que califique para ejercer el oficio de maestro en las Escuelas Públicas de Tulsa, en el cual sus aptitudes, conocimiento y experiencias se necesitan más para suplir la escasez de maestros. ENGLISH TPS hosted an event last week to help the military veterans find jobs as a part of a nationwide movement called “Troops to Education.” The project’s main mission is to use the veterans’ training skills and gained knowledge for educational purposes, improving the quality of the district’s education while allowing veterans to continue their service to the community.

The event started at 8 a.m. at the Wilson Teaching and Learning center, 2710 E. 11th St. in Tulsa, and even though the target was veterans and their families all those interested on working for TPS were accepted at the job fair.

Among the vacancies the most important ones include teaching assistants, bus drivers, custodians and child nutrition services staff.

“Troops to Education” is a program sponsored by the of the US Department of Education and the Department of Defense with the purpose of helping those military personnel whose skills fit the teaching requirements of the national educational system so that they can use their expertise in areas like Tulsa, which needs more qualified teachers.
