During the event there will be free flu vaccinations, free eye check ups for early detection of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular disease; and advice on health insurance, immigration assistance, education, scholarships, and more.

Maricarmen Mitchell, member of COHO (Coalition of Hispanic Organizations) said the event was sponsored by local leaders and organizations that have been working together at Rockwood Village offering assistance and empowerment options for the Tulsa community.

“We will have bilingual representatives from different entities like CAP Tulsa, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Caring Van Oklahoma, Morton Comprehensive Health Services, Eye Care Associates, COHO, TCC, JD Accutax Solutions, Immigration Solutions and Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma,” Mitchell said. “All of these organizations will offer free assistance and provide relevant information for all the community. The information given will be of specific interest to the Hispanic community, and will be focused on issues such as health, education, security, immigration and taxes.”

“We will also have some fun, raffles and presents,” Mitchell promised. “All the participants will be allowed to receive free eyesight check ups and assistance with taxes and immigration procedures. Vaccines against will be offered to those minors in need applying for school or pre-school.”

Rockwood Village is a complex of mobile homes located in East Tulsa where almost 90% of the residents are Hispanics. In recent years Rockwood’s administration has strived to work with local organizations to help its residents.

“We are organizing this event so that our community becomes aware of the resources and programs available in the city. Always remember information is power, use this opportunity to inform yourselves, to clarify your doubts and receive free aid that can be very valuable to you and your family.” (La Semana)
