Playing and learning
Last Wednesday February 22 BLOCK Fest took place at Sequoya Hills Baptist Church. The festival is a community event organized by CAP Tulsa with the goal of fostering awareness in the community of the importance of early education by showing parents the skills the kids can develop while learning how to classify, pile and creating using blocks.

ENGLISH at CAP Tulsa BLOCK Fest
The free family event offered participants the chance of playing at five different stations with kids from eight months to eight years, who, just like their parents, had to work with blocks.
The parent instructors of CAP have also received a special training program to be able to make everyone enjoy BLOCK Fest. The instructors were ready to help parents and kids alike and teach the adults the questions one can ask their kids while playing, questions such as: What are you building? Or, Can you find another block the same color as this one? These are questions that help the kids play and learn at the same time. These games give children the chance to foster mathematical knowledge and also alphabetization skills, all while interacting with their environment.
During the first year of your child’s life the bases of his or her development are established, and when parents offer their kids the chance to play with blocks, they are helping them develop early mathematical skills.
The Home Learning Program offered by CAP is available for all those parents that have kids younger than three and focuses on the development of the parent-child bond.
All the families enjoyed the games, and adults and children had the possibility of learning simple mathematical and science concepts while bonding. The parents learned how to make their kids learn at home while playing, and some promised to start with the home learning experience right away.
CAP Tulsa offers high quality pre-k education plans for children from birth to four designed to help kids move forward to kindergarten, learning at home and in different schools in the Tulsa area.
The agency is now accepting applications for the next school year and asks families to apply as soon as possible. If you want more information on the early education CAP programs visit the organization’s web site -www.captulsa.org/es or call (918) 382-3247. (La Semana)
