Health gala announced for September

Oklahoma Caring Van Foundation and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma announced last week that September has been the month chosen to celebrate the champions of health gala.

The Champions of Health awards have for 14 years distinguished those people who are trying hard to make a difference in the Tulsa Area. From those rural doctors who work countless hours to help their isolated communities to those NGO’s who implement new systems to help families develop healthier eating habits, champions of health celebrates all the efforts to improve the health of Oklahomans.

During the health state board meeting in 2004 we all found out the worst, that Oklahoma had been the only state to witness a decrease In health standards; its residents seemed to be less healthy than in years before in comparison to other states.

The Champions of Health awards were implemented to encourage all Oklahomans to become healthier. The program celebrates those individuals who are trying to create initiatives to help all communities within our state to improve their health.

The organization is now trying to form associations to help solve the health issues affecting the population of our state.
