Two girls injured in dog attack

-

Two girls were injured after they were attacked by a dog this weekend.

The events occurred at the Greens of Bedford apartment complex located in south Tulsa.

The police report indicates that two girls who were identified as Kairi Wise and Eberae Jennings, ages 8 and 10, were playing in the grassy area of the apartments, which neighbors say they often do.

A little girl told police that the attack was by a dog of one of the tenants of the complex, a dog that the girls had seen before, but that day the animal had no leash and as soon as she saw the girls she rushed at them.

The first one attacked was Kairi. The dog began to bite her hard in the chest area and as the girl hit the dog trying to get rid of it, the dog began to bite her arm. A few seconds later the dog was after Eberae who was running to escape, but the dog was faster and forced the child to the ground. Just as he had done with Kairi, the dog began to bite part of the girl’s chest. Eabere told the police that she could not do anything, that she froze at that moment, and she could not even feel the pain from the bites.

After hearing the screams of Kairi, her parents went out to see what was happening and that was how they managed to get the dog off of Eberea.

The girls were taken to the hospital where, they were treated for external wounds, and Eberae received a few stitches.

The parents in their statement told the police that they called the animal control line immediately after the accident occurred, but the answer they gave them was that they could not attend the call until Monday because it was not a real emergency.

The police said that in situation like this, the police department should be called immediately.

The parents of the girls also alleged that the dog that attacked their daughters did not comply with the restrictions of the apartment complex to be able to have pets in the place, since only dogs of less than 40 pounds are allowed and only some breeds in specific. The girls’ parents said dog that attacked the girls looked like a pit bull mixture, and that breed is not in the list of dogs allowed there.

Finally the owner of the dog said that he would take care of all the medical expenses and the dog was removed immediately from the complex. (La Semana)
