Yfinalmente lo bueno se hizo oír, Gathering Place, el parque más grande que Estados Unidos construyera a base de donaciones, tiene fecha de apertura. El gran día será el próximo 8 de septiembre del 2018, fecha seguida por 100 días de celebración, entretenimiento y actividades para toda la familia.
El anuncio llego en la voz de Ariana, la embajadora del parque en un evento especial realizado en las zonas de juegos de niños del parque. Varios pequeños de escuelas cercanas tuvieron la posibilidad de experimentar algunas de las secciones del parque y hasta participar del anuncio tan esperado.
Gathering Place informó que la primera fase de desarrollo del parque comprenderá 66.5 acres con entretenimiento para toda la familia, actividades para niños, pistas de patín, ciclismo, basquetbol y hasta un lago para remar.
El director del parque Tony Moore, dijo el día del anuncio que la banda de hip-hop y soul, The Roots, famosos por ser los anfitriones del Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, tocarán en el parque el día de la inauguración seguidos de varios artistas locales e internacionales en las semanas subsiguientes.
“Proponemos una inauguración de 100 días con diversos actos y eventos que le brindarán a todos los invitados la posibilidad de celebrar la apertura de este jardín todos los días”, dijo Moore. “Esta va a ser una experiencia inigualable”.
Gathering Place lleva invertidos $465 millones y contando, es hasta el momento la mayor donación que se le haya hecho a un parque en la historia de Estados Unidos.
La municipalidad de la ciudad de Tulsa anunció que Riverside Drive abrirá el 10 de septiembre, una buena noticia para todos los conductores que habían tenido que desviarse en los últimos años por las obras en construcción, y para los residentes del barrio nexo que tuvieron que soportar las altas concentraciones vehiculares. The long awaited announcement of the opening date of Gathering Place, the largest private donation of a park in US history, was made last Friday. The park's grand opening will be on Sept 8, 2018, followed by 100 days of celebrations, entertainment, and fun activities for the entire family.
The announcement was made by Ariana, the park’s young ambassa- dor, in a special media event held in one of Gathering Place’s many playground areas. Children from area schools have already gotten to experience sections of the park, and many were on hand to participate in the grand opening announcement.
Gathering Place said the first phase of the park spans 66.5 acres and will offer entertainment for the entire family. The park’s many activities include children’s programming, skating, biking, basketball, and even canoe and paddle boat rentals.
Park Director Tony Moore, speaking at the event, said that the renowned hip-hop/neo soul band The Roots, well known as the house band on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, will perform at Gathering Place on opening day, to be followed by numerous other national and international acts during the weeks to follow.
“Our 100 Day Opening Celebration will offer a diverse array of acts and events giving every guest an opportunity to celebrate the opening of the park every single day,” Moore said. “This will truly be an experience like no other.”
Gathering Place, at $465 million and counting, is the largest privately gifted public park in U.S. history.
The City of Tulsa announced that Riverside Drive will open on Sep- tember 10, which will prove a relief to the thousands of drivers who have had to detour the past several years while the park was being constructed, as well as to residents of the adjacent neighborhoods that have seen a vast increase in traffic during this time.
